We are thrilled to announce that our very own Umbraco MVP, Paul Seal, has been nominated for the prestigious Umbraco Package Awards 2025! This recognition is a testament to Paul's dedication, creativity, and technical prowess in the Umbraco community. We couldn't be prouder of this incredible achievement.
Paul Seal has consistently demonstrated excellence in developing innovative and valuable packages that enhance the Umbraco ecosystem. His contributions have not only provided practical solutions but have also showcased the technical craftsmanship that sets the standard in the community.
Every year, the Umbraco Awards shine a light on the heart of our community - the developers, designers, and digital teams who pour their creativity, passion, and technical skills into building truly remarkable digital experiences. From sleek websites and complex integrations to powerful contributions to the open-source ecosystem, these projects and people reflect the very best of what Umbraco is all about: flexibility, collaboration, and pushing boundaries together.
With a passion for open-source development, Paul is a distinguished Umbraco Tech Lead, recognised for his contributions to the community through conferences, hackathons, and pull requests. Paul's dedication to the Umbraco community is further highlighted by his renewal as an Umbraco MVP for the seventh time in 2024. He has created several packages, including the popular Clean Starter Kit, and actively contributes to collaboration projects within the Umbraco ecosystem.
Paul is also a developers’ developer whose mission is to help others across the tech community without barriers of competition or self-promotion. His YouTube channel @CodeSharePaul has 6.38K subscribers, 243 videos, and 1,486,026 views. This channel supports Paul’s blog codeshare.co.uk, where he regularly shares simple code examples, knowledge, and experience about web development, careers, and blogging. In 2024, Paul launched a series on Umbraco 13 setup, covering topics like block grid, block list, contact form, and examine search. His videos are well-received, and he excels in front of the camera, making complex topics accessible and engaging. Paul's dedication to knowledge sharing is further evident through his contributions to Skrift, where his insightful piece on "How to Create a Colour Theme Picker Using Contentment" was published last year.
In 2024, Paul played a pivotal role in developing the Umbraco Starter Kit (TUSK), an in-house website build accelerator by Clerkswell. This innovative product significantly reduced our project development time by weeks. Paul's commitment didn't end with its successful launch; he continually seeks client-friendly enhancements, dreaming up new features for better CRM integration and other improvements.
Collaboration is at the heart of Paul's work. He recently collaborated within the tech community to get his Clean Starter Kit package working as a dotnet template. Working with a team, Paul proved the concept and successfully got a site running using the new template, with content installed automatically thanks to uSync First Boot. Paul is also a volunteer member of the Umbraco Cloud Advisory Board. They have quarterly meetings on Zoom and share feedback, thoughts, and ideas every week in a Slack channel.
Since joining the ClerksWell senior leadership team meetings in 2024, Paul's contributions have been revolutionary. He revitalised our 'technology news' segment, consistently bringing insightful and relevant updates. Whether it's an event pertinent to our team's development, a technological initiative with client implications, or an upsell opportunity, Paul has an insight. His approach is always about how technology can be improved – or how businesses can be improved – rather than just ‘geeking out’. Paul ensures that technology serves a purpose beyond its own sake. His focus on improvement and best practices consistently inspires and excites our clients.
Paul's mentorship has been invaluable to the ClerksWell team. He has mentored our developers in India, boosting their confidence to travel to attend the first-ever Umbraco India in-person developer conference in Ahmedabad, where four team members participated. Paul is also mentoring one of our mid-level developers, guiding him on his journey to becoming an Umbraco Certified Master in 2024 and helping with his ambitions to become an MVP by providing advice on technical blog writing and event participation.
Recognising Paul's ingenuity and need to engage with his community, his passion for Umbraco is matched by his eagerness to learn new technologies like React and NextJS. This continuous learning is crucial for staying ahead in the tech industry. Paul defies the stereotype of the 'behind-the-screen developer' by actively engaging in in-person events like Codegarden in Copenhagen, the West Midlands Meetup in Birmingham, Spark Conference in Bristol and the Umbraco Community Festival in London. His presence at these events showcases his commitment to the community and his passion for face-to-face collaboration. At these events, Paul has given talks, including a presentation on Umbraco Cloud Deployments, covering setup in Azure DevOps and best practices.
Paul’s project work has been recognised with awards, such as the Bronze Award at the Digital Impact Awards with Smart Energy GB for the Best Use of Digital by a Charity.
We invite everyone to join us in celebrating Paul's nomination and to support him in this exciting journey. Let's continue to foster a community that thrives on innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
